Book Synopsis:

Old habits die hard. And I plan on murdering someone before the night is through.

Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very good at it. Now, I’m ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was thirteen.

Oh, I don’t think the mission will be easy, but turns out it’s a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I’m coming for her. So now I’m up against the army of lethal bounty hunters she hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister’s head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority. Taking Mab out is a close second.

Good thing I’ve got my powerful Stone and Ice magic — and my irresistible lover Owen Grayson — to watch my back. This battle has been years in the making, and there’s a chance I won’t survive. But if I’m going down, then Mab’s coming with me...no matter what I have to do to make that happen

Book Review:

This being the fifth book in the Elemental Assassin Series, I was expecting a lot from this installment. Jennifer Estep delivered in every way.

What I loved about this book was that there was a lot of action right in the opening scenes of the book. This book has been a long time coming. I felt that this storyline has been building in a lot of ways since book 2 in the series.

Mab Monroe, the fire elemental and head of Ashland’s underworld had Gin Blanco/Guinevere Snow’s family murdered with the exception of her sister. They have found each other after so many years. Yet Mab Monroe has constantly tried to kill Bria, Gin’s sister on more than one occasion. What I like about this book is that Gin has finally, I mean decided to take the fight literally to Mab’s doorstep.

The twists and turns this book had were great. Really love that right away Gin is not going to let Mab run her life. She wants revenge on Mab, not to mention to protect those that love her. Her family, friends and even Owen.

What happens in this book from the opening scenes is intense and great. I like how we are witnessing the beginning of what is going to be an awesome book. You get to see Gin’s frustration about how she misses and then has to run away from Mab’s goon’s when she misses her.

This book was so action packed that I immediately fell in love with all the characters all over again. Fletcher, Bria, Owen, Jo-Jo, Sophia and the gang are all back. I love how protective Owen is of Gin. When Owen and Gin are together, they are so perfect together. He even tells her that next time she goes after Mab, he’s coming with her.

Love all the twists and turns this novel took. A lot of explosions, fights, some tension between Gin’s sister Bria and Fletcher (which was nice). This makes me likes the novel a lot more.

The final confrontation between Mab and Gin was everything I hoped it would be and more. Jennifer Estep set it up perfectly. Mab made a great villain. What I like about Mab, was that she wasn’t afraid of Gin and had some great words for our heroine. Gin, didn’t show any fear either. Their final confrontation was great. The Stone and Ice Elemental vs. the Fire Elemental. What made this a great battle was that neither would give in. Love everything about this book.

I was so glad when Gin was victorious. Although I wonder what is left now that Mab is no more. What does the future hold for Gin and friends? I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Although I want to see more of Owen in the books. I think Owen is my second favorite character in this series.
